Dr. Judith Spitz is the Founder and Executive Director of Break Through Tech, the national expansion of the Women in Technology and Entrepreneurship in New York Initiative (the WiTNY Initiative) which she founded in 2016. Break Through Tech works at the intersection of academia and industry to propel more women into higher education and careers in tech. Spitz is also a member of the Advisory Board of ASAPP, an artificial intelligence company. From 2005 to 2016, she was a senior vice president and CIO at Verizon. Crain’s Business named her to their 2019 List of Notable Women in Tech. The New York Business Journal listed her as one of its 2018 Women of Influence. She received the Above & Beyond Award 2017 honoring for outstanding women in New York. In 2012 she received the Leadership and Service in Technology award from PACE University.
